Adventures in changing headlights!!

When Hubby called and told me that he had been hit by a chunk of concrete on the road and that the headlight had been smashed I wasn't too terribly worried.  When he came home however I noticed that the "chunk of concrete" was actually a 5 inch 3 lb. piece of metal that could have killed him.  That was extremely terrifying.  But, road junk happens.  So here we are with one broken headlight and the other is so yellowed that it needs to be replaced as well.  Because I had taken apart the brake lights many times on this car I figured the headlights would be a breeze.  Little did I know that this task was no easy one.  After the lights came in I popped the hood and got to work.  First, I find a large piece of plastic that is clearly blocking access to the lights.  After breaking a few of the pins I finally figured out how to properly remove that piece.  What do I find below it?  Metal...and lots of it.  Metal that all seems to be in the way of the headlights.  I stood there staring at the project for around 30 minutes trying to figure it out.  Wondering if I had gotten in way over my head.  I had been posting my troubles on facebook in real time.  I had a friend by the name of Kate post that she thought I would make the project my bitch.  Seeing those words and the confidence behind them gave me enough reason to try again.  I checked on youtube for a video and in 6 minutes I was confident I knew what to do.  I ran back outside and removed a few clips and sure enough the headlights came out with ease.  Installing the new ones was a breeze.  It just took a few adjustments on some screws.  After another few minutes I had both headlights installed.  Me...a GIRL!! Below are photos from my adventure.  As you can see the car looks so much better with the new lights.  I was also able to partially remove the dent in the hood from where the metal struck.  I'm pretty darn proud of this project and the outcome.
